It’s my favourite time of year, Samhain (sow-win). All Hallows’ Eve. The end of harvest, half way between autumn equinox and winter solstice.
This is the time of year that many think of ghosts and goblins and the veil believed to be the thinnest. This however, to many of us, is the time of year we honour our passed loved ones and ancestors. Food is prepared to honour them, build or adjust our altars we have for them. It is also a time to go within yourself. Just as the plants die back and send their energy down to their roots, we can do the same. Self-reflection, self love, healing, all to replenish yourself. Just as we honour our loved ones who have passed on, we must also honour ourselves by loving ourselves.
